When a new veterinary practice moved into Airdrie Retail Park, the building needed to work harder than it had before. The Century 21 team were brought back to site as part of the wider refurbishment – starting with the shop front screen, which was tired, damaged, and long overdue for replacement.
The Challenge
The existing screen was single-glazed aluminium and it showed. It was leaking a significant amount of heat from the building and simply wasn’t up to the demands of a busy commercial premises. With a veterinary practice moving in – bringing a high volume of public footfall alongside clinical staff who needed secure, separate access – the new system had to do a lot more than just look better than what was there before.
The Century 21 Approach
Century 21 installed a smart wall system: double-glazed, thermally broken aluminium that addresses the heat loss issues of the old screen while being built for the rigours of a high-traffic environment. The new screen consists of two sets of double doors – one for public access, and a second set fitted with an electric strike in conjunction with an access control system, allowing staff to move in and out of the building independently and securely.
Aluminium was the clear material of choice. It’s robust enough to handle the constant use that comes with a busy commercial setting and the thermally broken profile means the building holds its heat the way it should.
The Result
The completed installation gives the practice a secure, stylish entrance that’s fit for purpose from day one. The smart wall system handles both streams of traffic – public and staff – without any compromise on security or thermal performance and it’s built to stand up to heavy daily use for years to come.
